William explores the world of Architecture on a daily basis through his cameras. Willie comes from a builder’s background in Architecture. This early experience provides Willie with a fresh perspective and appreciation when capturing the art of architecture both on film and digital be it for architects, engineers, builders and interior designers, among others. His work has won numerous awards and has been an integral part of several architectural bids including the World Exchange Plaza, the new Ottawa Convention Centre and most recently the Lansdowne Park Revitalization Initiative.
Willie is celebrating 30 years of professional service in Architectural Photography in 2010. Over these years, Willie’s work has appeared in many publications including City & Country Home, Canadian Architect, Wood Design & Building, Canadian Geographic, Building Strategies, Interiors, Ottawa Magazine amongst others.
Having traveled extensively for his work and personally around the world, Willie feels completely at ease in any situation. He is always seeking to be in the right place at the right time. ” For me, rising before the sun and capturing the first rays of light is, and always will be, an exciting and invigorating moment”
For the past 12 years Willie has been dividing his time between assignments and conducting visual design workshops and tours for both amateur and professional photographers. These sessions have taken place in Canada, the United States, Mexico and now Europe.
“Photography is my passport to travel.” McElligott says, “It lets me discover new experiences in life and challenges me to strive for excellence in my field – to improve continually on what I have done in the past.”
