ARE TIPS/GRATUITIES INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
Tips/Gratuities are not included in your tour price. In Croatia, like many countries, tipping is an acceptable and expected practice. Salaries in Croatia cannot compare to salaries in North America and most of Europe, yet prices here are similar to North American prices ($2-3 for a cappuccino). Gratuities are never included in the bill. A 10% percent tip will not leave much of a hole in your wallet or purse.
CAN SLIKAMILINA PAINTING & PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS HELP ME WITH AIRFARES?
Slikamilina Painting & Photography Tours can offer advise on the best way to get there, but cannot book flights. Airfares are best purchased through your own travel agent.
HOW CAN I PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Slikamilina Painting & Photography Tours strongly recommends that workshop members have travel insurance and that you purchase travel insurance through your travel agent.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY FLIGHT DOES NOT ARRIVE AT THE AIRPORT BEFORE THE SCHEDULED TRANSFER TO THE ISLAND OF KORCULA?
Only one transfer is scheduled to transfer workshop members to the Island of Korcula. We recommend that you arrive a day early or you will have to make your own way to the Island of Korcula which is not always an easy endeavour. .
WHAT HOTELS WILL I STAY AT?
We do not stay in Hotels, as Westerns understand them. We stay in Pansions, which would be equivalent to our B&B’s. The name and contact details of the Pansions can be provided upon request.
CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE VEGETARIANS OR PEOPLE WITH DIET RESTRICTIONS?
We have had vegetarians in the past but these vegitarians still ate fish and cheese. Croatia is a meat eating culture and they have a hard time understanding vegetarianism! We do our best to accommodate everyone and have not had complaints yet… Silvana is brilliant in the kitchen!
WHAT IS THE AGE OF THE PEOPLE TRAVELLING ON YOUR TOURS?
Our guests are anywhere between 35 and 82 years old, the average age being 45-65. The minimum age required is 18 years old. The age is really not important, your attitude is, so you should not worry about age. Just have an open mind and a sense of humour.
WILL I FIT ON THE TOUR IF I AM TRAVELING SOLO AND DON’T KNOW ANYONE?
Yes, we always get several solo travelers on our tours. Besides, the group eats together for breakfast, most lunches and for all dinners. Our guide is also always with the group so you will never be alone if you don’t want to be.
HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE TO GO ON YOUR PAINTING TOURS?
There is some walking involved everyday to go and visit the sites. You need to be able to walk about 1 mile a day and may not be able to participate if you have some walking disabilities. However, you do not need to be very fit. There is always the option of waiting for the group at the terrace of a cafe. Also, if you are tired or just want to relax for the day, you have the opportunity to opt out of any activity. You can spend the day at the guesthouse, reading a book on the balcony.
HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE TO GO ON YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS?

You do need to be fit as you will be expected to carry all your own gear. If you are tired or just want to relax for the day, you have the opportunity to opt out of any activity. You can spend the day at the guesthouse, reading a book on the balcony.
DO WE PAINT THE DAY OF OUR ARRIVAL?
We generally start painting the second day after our arrival. Let’s take as an example a workshop scheduled and listed as June 5-14th. This means that June 4th is the day of your arrival (your evening meal and accommodation for this night is included in your tour price), June 5th is a travel day from Dubrovnik to the Island of Korcula, June 14th is a travel day from Korcula to Dubrovnik, and June 15th is the date of departure. So the dates of your tour, in this example June 5-14, are all tour and painting days. June 15th would be your date of departure. Just a quick explanation of “travel day” – The drive from Dubrovnik to the Island of Korcula is about 3 hours. On the way to Korcula we stop for lunch and arrive in the early afternoon on the island. On the return trip to Dubrovnik, we arrive around 10:30am so we can have lunch in the old town of Dubrovnik.
DO I BRING MY OWN MATERIALS?
Yes. All art and photography supplies must be brought with the tour member for 9 days of painting and photography. Do not assume that supplies will be available in any of the towns that you will be visiting. Please look at our General information and Conditions for more information.
ARE TOILETS AVAILABLE AT OUR PAINTING SITES?
Please remember you are painting en plein air. Most of our locations are in towns and villages, and so you have access to toilets at the local cafes. You may have to buy a coffee or drink to use the toilets. Cafes will not be far from our plein air site, with maximum of a 5 minute walk.
WHAT IS THERE FOR NON-PAINTERS TO DO?
There is so much for non-painters to do on our tours and many of the workshops include other non-painters. Non-painters can go sightseeing and visit local towns and museums. The Tour Manager can suggest additional activities.
CAN I GO ON THE TRIP AND PAY FOR MY OWN ACCOMMODATIONS SOMEWHERE ELSE?
No. Workshops are sold as a package including accommodations.

Many of our artists have conducted a number of workshops with us before. Artists have been carefully selected for their reputation, popularity, teaching ability and high standards. We suggest you contact the instructor directly with specific questions.
