For those that are new to my blog I would like to welcome you. I would also like to take a minute to introduce myself and our company.
Slikamilina Painting and Photography tours has been in business since 2008, and has been running 10 day all-inclusive tours (except airfare) to Dubrovnik and the Island of Korcula. We started with painting tours and last year added photography tours to our itinerary.
My father is Croatian and decided to retire in Lumbarda, Korcula, instead of Canada. For those of you that have never been, there are a lot worse places he could have chosen! For those of you that have been, either on your own, or with our tour, I can see you nodding your head in agreement. My dad spends 12 months of the year outdoors (no snow!), happily growing grapes for his wine and olives for his olive oil…. on the side he as a full agricultural garden! To think that once upon a time, he was only interested in wood and building.
I was born in Kingston, Ontario but have been living in Ottawa, Canada for the past 14 years. I believe we all have a passion in life and mine is travelling. Not only is my dad from Croatia, but my mom was from South Africa and with family in both places, I have been travelling since I was wee, which included travelling to Croatia, every second year, for most of my adult life. I am a bit of a Jill of all trades but my tours are my pride and joy, as I have the opportunity to share this wonderful country with others.
I love Croatia, not only because it is my heritage but because of the county itself. The people are friendly, the weather is perfect (ok it gets a bit hot in July and August), the food is amazing, and the vistas are spectacular. Once again, those of you that have been, will be in agreement. If you have a moment, visit our gallery, which will not only show the towns and villages we visit but some of the artwork people have produced.
With tours running in the spring and fall, this is the first year I have decide to spend 6 months abroad. If you go back through some of my past blogs, they will take you on a journey of my preparation for leaving and my experiences while I have been here.
I hope you will join me for the balance of my time in Europe, as I will be blogging every Friday.
